03/22/2026Landlords TV or no TV in a room rental. Is that the question? The real question is is adding a TV to a room for rent going to make you more money? Is it going to make me more money? Perhaps when they see that tv they will think oh yeah this room really is move in ready.
It means if I move into that room, I don't have to bother with going out and looking for a TV. It's already there. That can mean more money coming in for you, for me. However, if we draw in that ready to rent now tenant and they move in because of that TV, what about the person that also moved in in the room next door? Are they going to be hearing that TV being played by the other roommate?
That TV could potentially make the other roommate wanna move out if the newbie roommate plays that TV loud. So what do we do in a situation like that? We need to be fair. Even if you didn't buy the TV and place it in there for that person, that person might go ahead and bring their own TV into that room. And so playing fairly this is what we can do.
We can put acoustic paneling on the wall where the TV is going to be and that way we can buffer any sound that would come through a wall. We can provide TVs like a Sony smart tv where we have the ability to turn on bluetooth headphones so that our tenants, our residents, can listen to tv and not be so noisy to our other roommates. It makes sense. And we want to put in place, especially in a cold living house, quiet hours. They know when quiet time comes on, they can put on those headphones and we didn't tell them, hey, lights out.
Hey, turn off the TV. We told them because we're being mindful and considerate of everyone in this household, there are quiet hours. Yes. You can still listen to and watch your TV, but please put on those headphones that we have provided for you.
